World’s First Industrial Demonstration Plant for Electrolytic Conversion of Lithium Sulphate to Battery Grade Lithium Hydroxide

NORAM’s industrial demonstration-scale electrolysis unit, supplied to Nemaska Lithium for upgrading lithium sulfate into battery-grade lithium hydroxide was first energized on site at Nemaska Lithium’s Shawinigan Phase One Plant February 7, 2017.

The demonstration plant is based around a NORAM NORSCAND® lithium sulphate electrolyser which is designed for production rates as high as 500TPY LHM. NORAM supplied the Electrolyser, basic engineering package for the electrolysis demonstration plant, the DC electrical systems, and supported the commissioning of the facility.
