Mechanical Engineer

NORAM Electrolysis Systems Inc. (NESI) is looking for a skilled and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Engineer. The successful candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and will work with our technical experts on developing new electrolysis technologies.

Duties:

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, and electrical engineers, designers, and project managers, to execute and complete project deliverables.
  • Design and specify equipment including: pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, and other process and piping components.
  • Review and specify selections for materials of construction.
  • Perform engineering calculations for fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and strength of materials.
  • Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring adherence to project plans and quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, including technical specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Provide technical support to the project team and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and contractors to specify necessary equipment, materials, and services.

As our projects are continuously changing, a level of flexibility is needed when it comes to the tasks performed. The candidate must be results oriented and motivated to tackle new engineering challenges.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer.
  • Registration with EGBC as a P.Eng. or EIT, or a demonstrated plan to register.
  • Knowledge of electrochemical processing plant equipment, safety practices, and basic chemistry principles is an asset.
  • Experience with engineering programs such as Aspen Exchanger Design and Rating, Compress, SolidWorks (FEA), Excel, Mathcad, MS Project.
  • Familiarity with relevant industry regulations and standards, including but not limited to, ASME BPVC and B31.3 and/or European design codes (EN standards related to Pressure Equipment Directive).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make informed decisions in complex situations.
  • Ability to work as a team or independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, communication, and people skills.
