Mechanical Assembly Technician

NORAM Electrolysis Systems Inc. (NESI) is looking for a skilled and self-motivated individual to join our team as a Mechanical Assembly Technician. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, and experience with mechanical assembly to ensure the successful delivery of electrolysers to our clients.

Duties:

  • Assembly of Electrolysers:
    • Assemble components and sub-assemblies of electrolysers following specific written instructions, and drawings.
    • Ensure that all parts fit correctly and are suitable for the final product.
    • Verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
    • Document assembly procedures and changes to improve future efficiency.
  • Quality Control of Incoming Components:
    • Inspect and test incoming components to ensure they meet required specifications before assembly begins.
    • Use precision measuring instruments and testing equipment to verify dimensions, functionality, and conformance of parts.
    • Maintain records of inspection results and prepare reports on quality issues.
  • Packing and Preparing Shipments:
    • Pack cells and components to ensure they are ready for shipment.
    • Seal, label, and prepare shipping crates for transport.
    • Document product shipment by creating packing lists.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
    • Identify problems that might arise during assembly of electrolysers and take appropriate action to resolve issues.
  • Adherence to Safety and Regulatory Standards:
    • Follow company policies and health and safety regulations to ensure a safe workplace.
    • Attend safety training sessions and use the provided protective gear and equipment.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with other team members to ensure efficient production processes.
    • Communicate effectively with supervisors to report on progress or any potential issues affecting assembly processes.
  • Regularly lift 30-50 pounds.
  • Some travel may be required.

Requirements:

  • 5 years’ experience working as an assembly technician or machine operator.
  • Experience working with full range of hand-held and power tools.
  • Self-motivated and independent, able to complete tasks without direct supervision.
  • Experience operating a forklift.
  • Previous experience working with electrolyzers or fuel cells would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience working on fabrication of product prototypes would be considered an asset.
