NORAM Electrolysis Systems Inc. (NESI)

Commercializing electrochemical process technologies to electrify the world of tomorrow.

Our DNA

Electrochemical technologies for a greener planet.

From the production of green hydrogen to energy storage for the grid to the processing of lithium that helps power electric vehicles, we develop electrochemical processes to tackle the global challenges of climate change, waste management, and pollution reduction. And we’ve been doing it for over 30 years. Today, we proudly serve an array of international clients in the resource and environmental sectors who are motivated to reduce the environmental footprint of the chemical process industry. As part of the NORAM Group of Companies, we leverage long-standing strategic partnerships, supply chains, and extensive process and mechanical engineering expertise to accelerate the commercialization of electrochemical process technologies.

Our technology

Electrolysers developed for new process requirements.

NESI offers a unique combination of electrochemical engineering expertise combined with state-of-the-art manufacturing partnerships to design, manufacture, commercialize, and deploy electrochemical process technologies worldwide.

Our flagship process technology combines lithium conversion process know-how with our proven, highly adaptable, and commercial-scale electrolyser called the NORSCAND® electrolyser, to convert raw or recycled lithium brines into battery-grade lithium hydroxide for the world’s lithium-ion battery (LIB) industry. NESI also offers technologies for recycling critical metals from lithium-ion batteries and spent chemicals, like sodium sulphate, into valuable caustic and acid feedstocks. The application of electrolysis can close the loop on many lithium production or LIB recycling flowsheets greatly reducing the environmental impact of the LIB manufacturing chain by eliminating effluents such as sodium sulphate

The NORSCAND® electrolyser combines an electrical driving force with state-of-the-art coatings and membranes, to drive waste and raw product streams to high-value and reusable chemicals. The NORSCAND® Electrolyser has been successfully deployed for lithium hydroxide production, lithium-ion battery recycling, and sodium sulphate salt-splitting.
